Reuben Morgan & Ben Fielding
What if there’s a biblical practice many of us dismissively chuckle about, that could actually strengthen your leadership and protect your team? In this revealing conversation with CXMMXNS songwriters Reuben Morgan and Ben Fielding, we uncover a spiritual discipline that the Western church has largely abandoned.
While most leaders are grinding harder and pushing through, Reuben and Ben share what they’ve discovered about a counterintuitive approach that’s helping them steward songs reaching millions while staying grounded in local church ministry.
From the hidden traps of ministry success to the ancient church rhythms we’ve forgotten, this conversation will challenge your assumptions about productivity, spiritual maturity, and what it really means to follow Jesus’ model of leadership.
This episode might make you rethink your entire approach to sustainable ministry.
About Reuben Morgan & Ben Fielding
Reuben Morgan & Ben Fielding both emerged from the vibrant Hillsong Church worship culture in Australia. Reuben Morgan started leading worship and writing songs in the late ’90s; his heart has always been to write for the church. Ben Fielding grew up in Melbourne, then joined Hillsong’s songwriting community, writing songs that caught fire globally. Together, they’ve influenced modern worship in countless churches—with songs like Mighty to Save, What a Beautiful Name, and Who You Say I Am. Their collaboration has pushed them beyond just solo songwriting into something more communal.
Formation of CXMMXNS
In late 2024, Reuben Morgan & Ben Fielding joined forces to create a collective called CXMMXNS. It’s built to be a movement, combining familiar voices and fresh worship leaders in unity. The goal is to serve churches with songs everyone can sing, grounded in scripture and spiritual depth. CXMMXNS Chapter 1 was their debut release under this new banner, showing their commitment to both innovation and legacy. They emphasize collaboration, not competition—platforming younger voices alongside their own.
Songwriting & Influence
Reuben Morgan & Ben Fielding have co-written many of the most sung worship anthems today. Their work includes award-winning tracks, with both Dove and Grammy recognition. With over 200 published songs between them, their music spans styles but always aims to lift hearts to God. They’ve seen churches across cultures adopt their songs, demonstrating longevity and reach. Their influence isn’t just in lyrics, but in shaping how theology meets worship in real congregational life.
Values & Leadership Style
For Reuben Morgan & Ben Fielding, ministry is more than output—it’s about rhythm, community, and faithfulness. They’ve spoken openly about avoiding hustle culture and embracing rest, feasting, celebration as spiritual disciplines. Their leadership is marked by humility: pushing back on measuring worth solely by metrics or achievement. They see worship as holistic—creative, relational, theological—all working together. Even in high seasons, they lean into what nourishes rather than what merely looks successful.
What’s Next
Reuben Morgan & Ben Fielding continue to explore new sounds and new ways to serve the global church. With CXMMXNS, more songs are coming, more voices will be heard. They’re looking toward seasons of expansion—geographically and spiritually. Their hope is that their next chapter encourages worship leaders to rest, to feast, to lead with presence. For them, the mission is steady: write truth, worship well, and build healthier communities of faith.
