Naomi Raine: Lead Worship for 20 Before 20,000

Listen & Watch This Episode

Naomi Raine

Naomi Raine had just written what she was sure was the best song of her life. Then she decided the room was too small to waste it on.

Twenty five people at a church plant. No record deal, no audience, nothing. And right before she held the song back, she heard it: if you can’t be faithful with this song in front of 20 people, I can’t trust you with 20,000 people.

Naomi sang it that Sunday anyway. This conversation is what happened after.

You’ll hear why she says you can fake it in private just as easily as you fake it on stage, and what honest prayer actually sounds like at 7:30 in the morning when you did not go to bed until one. And about her brand new podcast, In the Room with Naomi Raine.

You’ll hear her reframe for every worship leader carrying guilt about Monday through Saturday: it is all worship, including the rehearsal prep and your kid’s football game.

And you’ll hear how she stays planted in a local church in Mount Vernon while touring the world.

Naomi is a Grammy winning founding voice of Maverick City Music who still pastors a local room and now runs her own label.

If prep keeps eating the time you want to spend with God, Worship Online helps your whole team learn their parts at home so rehearsal stops stealing your week. Learn more at https://worshiponline.com/

About Naomi Raine

Naomi Raine is a GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter, worship leader and pastor whose powerful voice and heartfelt songwriting have impacted worshipers around the world. Born and raised in New York to parents who were worship leaders, Naomi was immersed in music and ministry from an early age. She began singing publicly at just two years old and wrote her first song at seven. Those early experiences, including listening to her parents worship at home, helped shape her lifelong passion for God’s presence.

Naomi rose to international prominence as a founding member of Maverick City Music, contributing to influential worship songs including “Jireh,” “Promises” and “The Story I’ll Tell.” During her time with the collective, she earned multiple GRAMMY Awards along with recognition from the Dove, Stellar and Billboard Music Awards. After departing Maverick City Music in 2025, she continued her solo career through projects including Journey, Cover the Earth and Jesus Over Everything, while also launching ReFraine Records to develop and support other artists.

Despite her international platform, Naomi remains deeply committed to the local church, serving as Worship Pastor at Fresh Start Christian Center in Mount Vernon, New York. A mother of three, she is passionate about spiritual formation, authentic worship and helping others grow in their relationship with Jesus. She also hosts In The Room, a podcast exploring faith, wisdom and the realities of everyday life.
