Shelby Rollins: The Habit That’s Limiting Your Team

Listen & Watch This Episode

Shelby Rollins

This episode started as a conversation about vocals. It became something every musician on your worship team needs to hear.

In this episode of the Worship Online Podcast, Keith sits down with Shelby Rollins, founder of Master Vocal, to talk about what it really means to steward your voice or instrument well. We start with the voice: sleep, diet, Sunday morning prep, and why training on a treadmill might be the most underrated vocal habit you’ve never tried.

But the deeper conversation is about something every musician on your team lives with: the habits and workarounds you’ve built around what you can’t do yet. Most of us have mistaken our limitations for our style. Shelby calls that out, and the implications go way beyond singing.

Whether you lead vocals, play guitar, hold down keys or anchor the rhythm section, this episode is about showing up with the fullest version of what you’ve been given.

About Shelby Rollins

Shelby Rollins’ journey as a vocalist started early, but the real formation happened when she stopped relying on raw talent and started training the way athletes train their bodies. That shift changed everything, not just how she sang, but how she thought about the voice as an instrument that could be developed with intention and discipline.

Shelby is a wife, a mom, and someone who knows firsthand what it feels like to spend years building a vocal identity around limitations rather than actual ability. Her own breakthrough as a singer came through the kind of training she now offers others, and she brings that lived experience into every coaching relationship she has.

Today Shelby is the founder of Master Vocal and coaches vocalists ranging from worship singers to major touring artists. She runs an active training club, creates resources that remove the guesswork from vocal development, and most recently has been coaching Megan Moroney, helping her build the stamina and technique to sustain demanding touring schedules without losing the voice that makes her uniquely her.
